Grammy award winning singer-songwriter Estelle will make a special appearance on tonight's (Mar. 4th) episode of FOX’s new hit TV series, Empire. The R&B songstress will perform her empowering single "Conqueror" as a duet with Jussie Smollet, better known as 'Jamal Lyon'.
In the episode, Estelle plays the character Delphine, who befriends Jamal after being inspired by his coming out. The two form a bond and record together.
“I'm friends with Jussie, and I know Terrence [Howard], and I'd worked with Taraji [P. Henson] before, so I saw some posts about [the show], and I put it out there that I'd love to be a part of that show,” Estelle says about her appearance. “[Producers] heard my song "Conqueror," and they said, "We want you to do a scene with Jussie. We want you to sing in the scene with Jussie, be kind of like an artist friend of his.”
The original version of “Conqueror” serves as the lead single from Estelle’s fourth studio album, True Romance, out now via Established 1980 Inc/BMG. The duet will appear on the original soundtrack from season one of Empire, due March 10th.
