Jessica Mauboy enjoys the company of family and friends in the music video for her song, “The Day Before I Met You.” Shot in Darwin, Australia, the co-directed clip spotlights the singer-songwriter’s hometown’s culture and way of life with the youth leading the charge.
“It was a dream come true for me,” Mauboy told NT News. “This is a different part of Australia that I hope more people come and visit and explore and it is also a different community and a different way of speaking. It is so rich and simple in terms of living. You can walk down the street and say hello and people will say hello back.”
The 25-year-old’s parents and four sisters all appear in the video clip, which also includes the house where she grew up.
“This is a place where you can be fearless, demand and be proud of who you are. That is what has been passed down to me,” she adds.
