Soul singer-songwriter Goapele returns with new music after her 2011 album Break of Dawn in the form of the new single “Hey Boy," a departure from her usual mellow sounds. Co-written by Estelle and Keith Harris, Goapele aims to get you up on the dance or skating floor, a contemporary take on her music …even utilizing a chopped-and-screwed voice.
"I wanted to do my version of an uptempo song this time around—something fun to perform and dance to," she told ESSENCE.com.
“Hey Boy” is from the singer’s upcoming fifth studio album Strong As Glass, showcasing her craft in a slightly different light, and showing her growth.
"[It's] full of surprises and I hope my fans will enjoy this musical journey with me," she says. "I sung my heart out on this project and I got to work with producers & writers that pushed me as an artist."
