Is this more confirmation of an upcoming movie based on the late R&B star Aaliyah?
Last month, rumors swirled that casting for a VH1 Aaliyah biopic had begun. It all started when Aaliyah’s uncle and former manager Barry Hankerson began tweeting mysterious tweets and posting promo pics about production beginning on an Aaliyah movie, then allegedly, model Bria Murphy auditioned for the part to play the late R&B star.
Now it seems there were auditions held, as Nicole Bitchie is reporting that one actress by the name of Tristin Mays posted on her Instagram a photo of her and Aaliyah and captioned that she auditioned, but didn’t get the part.
The caption in part, reads:
“Today, I can’t be upset that I didn’t book the role I worked so hard for. This may have been the most difficult, emotional, inspiring, and lengthy audition process I’ve ever experienced. Getting the chance to portray someone I’ve always loved and admired so much was a blessing every single step of the way. I invested every ounce of my body mind and soul into this process and I can honestly say I’m proud of myself. God definitely has something incredible in store for me. A huge thank you to everyone who believed in me and spoke up for me in the room. And a huge congratulations to everyone in the cast!#TheAaliyahStory. -Tristin Mays”
She acknowledges that a cast HAS been chosen and even hashtags a title? Hhhmmm, sounds legit!
