Rihanna’s Former Accountant Fights Back in ‘Virtually Bankrupt’ Lawsuit

Rihanna’s former accountant is fighting back after the music superstar filed a lawsuit claiming he left her practically bankrupt and $9 million in debt in 2009.

Peter Gounis filed a response in an attempt to get the suit dismissed, citing he was only hired to record and manage her accounts and not to give her advice about her spending.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Gounis claims Rihanna blew millions of her own money on shopping sprees and throwing extravagant parties for herself. He also says her choice to do the failing film ‘Battleship,’ instead of doing a major tour, contributed to her financial downfall.

In her filing, Rihanna claims Gounis advised her to buy a $7 million house, even though she was going broke.

Rihanna is now worth an estimated $43 million.
