Beyoncé is doing her part to make sure young girls do not get discouraged from becoming tomorrow's leaders.
The music superstar teamed with women's empowerment organization LeanIn.org and Girls Scouts of the USA to encourage young girls to be next generation leaders.
In a new PSA video, dubbed #BanBossy, Beyoncé says, "Girls are less interested in leadership than boys," adding, “Be brave. Be You… I'm not bossy, I'm the boss.”
According to LeanIn.org, "When a little boy asserts himself, he's called a “leader.” Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded “bossy.” Words like bossy send a message: don't raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys—a trend that continues into adulthood. Together we can encourage girls to lead."
Also joining the singer in the campaign are actresses Jennifer Garner and Jane Lynch, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Are you bossy or are you a boss???
