Marcus Cooper Reclaims Pleasure P Moniker After “Sabotage” Attempt

The power of your name defines how people identify with you as an artist.

After working years to cement the brand of Pleasure P, the former Atlantic Records singer shelved the moniker due to false allegations of rape.

He moved forward with his career under his legal name Marcus Cooper, but now the "Letter to my Ex" singer is back on the Pleasure P train. "They tried sabotaging my name that I worked so hard for; it let me just start fresh, but then I was like you know what, you have the confidence, you worked hard and put in so much time into this, you just can't let something as small as that (alleged child molestation accusations) ruin what you worked so hard for," Pleasure told Singersroom.

He continued, "It’s time to fight back and speak up and put out music because I can overcome it by doing those types of things."

As his career continues to evolve, Pleasure plans to use both names because each represents a piece of him. He adds, "I wanted people to get to know both; kind of like how Sean Diddy Combs is Puffy; do you know what I mean? All those people are me."
