Emo/New Wave Songs from Jordin Sparks, Mariah Carey & Jhene Aiko Lead Top 10 Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week.

The indie/alternative/emo R&B bubbling subgenre, blending new wave and minimalism style, is a trend Jordin Sparks and Mariah Carey could not resist.

Jordin Sparks gravitated to the audio concept of minimalism on her latest internet teaser "11:11 (Wish)"

The leak of the song proves Jordin is in the studio creating, but no album release date is in sight. The positive feedback may force her to push the pace to complete the upcoming project as "11:11 (Wish)" topped Singersroom's Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week.

The birth of twins slowed Mariah Carey, but it was only a matter of time before the diva reported to the recording studio for work. The new single "The Art of Letting Go," is a ballad that gradually builds; cleaning emotional palette. "It might sound over the top, but when I was singing this song, I felt like I had touched upon certain emotions within myself that I haven’t put on a record in a very long time," Carey stated.

The record is opposite of the rumors that said the singer was aiming to make an album influenced by Hip Hop club songs. For Mariah's new album, she reportedly worked with Stevie Wonder, Wale, Jermaine Dupri, Randy Jackson, Q-Tip, R. Kelly and The Dream.

Jhene Aiko joins Jordin and Mariah in the top three spots on the Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week. Aiko helped usher in the alternative R&B style built with echoes, synthesizers and a focus on lyrical content. That theme is consistent with the release of "Stay Ready (What a Life)." From the first line, "We do not exist in any other instance/Here in this dimension you and I are meant to be", the tone is set in a serious yet comforting mood. The six minute track transitions smoothly into a separate mood without interruption and shifts again.

The track is a featured on her first official Def Jam release, 'Sail Out' EP.

See where Bruno Mars landed along with K. Michelle, B. Smyth, N. Howard, Yummy Bingham, Tamar Braxton and Nivea on the Top 10 Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week.
