Aspiring newcomer SZA drops the gloomy music video to her latest single "Teen Spirit," a clip the hands-on 23-year-old directed with Aplusfilmz.
“I wanted to live and die by my own decisions,” SZA told Vogue.com regarding her direction for the visual. “From color correction to set choice to dressing myself in dirty T-shirts and random Marni pieces and refusing a stylist and makeup artist… I figured if I was going to fail, I’d do it on my own terms.”
As previously reported, SZA is the first female signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, home of Kendrick Lamar, SchoolBoy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul.
Before signing to TDE, SZA made her moves on the independent scene with EP releases "See.SZA.Run," in December 2012, and "S," in April of this year. She is currently working on her 'Z' EP, slated for release later this year.
