August Alsina’s ‘I Luv This’ Soars To No.1

August Alsina has a breakthrough hit on his hands.

The rising recording artist's single, "I Luv This Sh*t," is one of the fastest growing songs this month, especially at radio.

According to Billboard, the single shot to no.1 on the R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart this week.

"I Luv This Shit," on which he's co-billed with Trinidad James, jumps 4-1 on the Nielsen BDS-based Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay ranking," reports Billboard. "The Knucklehead-produced track rises by 18% in plays, dethroning Jay Z’s "Holy Grail" (featuring Justin Timberlake) after two weeks on top. "I Luv This Shit" also leapfrogs Drake’s "Hold On, We’re Going Home" (featuring Majid Jordan), which holds at No. 2 (up 4%), and J. Cole's former No. 1 "Crooked Smile" (featuring TLC) (3-3)."

Alsina is the first R&B recording artist to top the chart with a debut single since Jeremih, who struck no.1 with "Birthday Sex" in 2009.

Additional chart data will be released later today.
