Trey Songz was among the likes of Valerie Simpson of Ashford & Simpson, violinist Joshua Bell, Melissa Etheridge, Les Misérables” creators Alain Boublil, Herbert Kretzm-er and Claude-Michel Schönberg as an honoree for the 2013 Recording Academy Honor on Wednesday (June 26). The ceremony honors entertainers who inspire and enhance creativity.
Songz brought his proud mother April Tucker as his biggest fan and date, while his manager Kevin Liles presented the Chapter V singer with his award. Ne-Yo tributed Songz’s by singing his hit “Can’t Be Friends,” and soon after, a humble tweet surfaced on Trey’s twitter page: “Stood amongst legends tonight. Truly grateful,” he wrote.
