Jessica Sanchez Performs, Opens Up About Album Sales and ‘Proving Self’

"American Idol" runner up and "Glee" actress Jessica Sanchez has been on the promo trail as of late. Not only did she return to "American Idol" last week, she did a show and interview with Extra at the Grove.

While these are exciting times for Sanchez, who almost clinched the "American Idol" title in 2012, her debut album has sold just 14,000 copies since its release earlier this month, earning a debut at no.26 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

That said, Sanchez is focused on proving herself, knowing that she can't just rest on being an "American Idol" finalist.

"I finally got that opportunity (American Idol), and now it's more like, I just gotta show and prove myself to everybody that I'm not just the 'balladeer.' I like to do this kind of stuff," Sanchez said of her debut album, "Me, You & The Music," which features a number of uptempo tracks, including the lead single "Tonight" (ft. Ne-Yo).

"It's an Urban/R&B album, but still soulful kind of album. There's a couple ballads, but a lot of club and dancing youthful songs," Sanchez told Extra of the album.
