J. Drew invites the ladies to partake in a sensual, ethereal experience with his jammin' single “Flight.” The producer/singer/songwriter may come from gospel lineage (son of Bishop J. Drew Sheard and Grammy-Award winning gospel singer Karen Clark Sheard), but he’s stepping away from his family’s religious circle and going secular. Signed to Pharrell’s StarTrak label imprint, Drew’s conflict with his family regarding his decision to pursue R&B is played out in front of the cameras on BET’s reality series “The Sheards.”
“I just wanted to do something different because believe it or not when I first started working on music gospel was never really my first love," Drew told The Christian Post. "I thought that there's more things to talk about in life besides the main thing that gospel songs talk about. I pretty much work to really be able to relate to people and become the best at it," he explained.
“Flight” comes from his EP Never Coming Back which drops on May 6.
