The second season of "R&B Divas: Atlanta" is right around the corner. With just a few weeks to go before the anticipated premiere on TV One, Syleena Johnson spoke out recently, discussing the ups and downs of reality TV.
"It's strange to have your life chronicled and scrutinized infront of everybody, but there's ups and downs to it. Obviously it's good exposure for me as an artist. It's a great platform for all the things that I'm doing. But then you know, people tend to judge you for things that they've seen on TV that might be manipulated through editing and that's not always fair, but I mean it is what it is. At the end of the day, people need to understand that, for the most part, it's entertainment. It is realistic. It is our lives, but it is entertainment. It's not scripted, but it is entertainment," Johnson shared with Mains World 365.
Featuring new cast members, like Latocha Scott (Xscape) and Angie Stone, filming for the new season of "R&B Divas" was recently wrapped up. That said, Syleena Johnson hopes that everyone will enjoy the season and be entertained, but she also hopes that people will understand that everyone involved has a life and goes back to that once the cameras go away.
"I just wish people wouldn't be so critical of every little thing and just have fun watching it. I don't mind the whole 'Girl you shouldn't have said that.' I don't mind that. That's fun, but when the show is done understand that we go back to our lives and we're humans just like everybody else. We have to live our lives," said Johnson.
In related news, Syleena Johnson is working on a number of new projects, including an album with Musiq Soulchild, a workout/fitness DVD, a collection of T-Shirts and more.
"R&B Divas" returns May 1 at 10 p.m. on TV One.
