The world’s biggest names in music came out for music’s biggest night last night (Feb 10) for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staple Center in Los Angeles. The night was spiced up with unique performances and surprise collaborations.
The first televised award of the night when to Adele for Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit “Set Fire to the Rain.” Miguel sang “Adorn” and enlisted Wiz Khalifa to help with a verse from the remix, to which a befuddled Kelly Clarkson acknowledged wanting to work with him when receiving her award for Best Pop Vocal album. Justin Timberlake brought the house down with his new single “Suit & Tie” with Jay-Z, who helped in tearing that house down. JT then debuts the new track “Pusher Love Girl,” which made for a rockin’ performance. Alicia Keys collabed with Maroon 5, Keys drumming it out like a new Sheila E. Rihanna sang an emotional “Stay,” and Bruno Mars lit up the stage by opening the Bob Marley tribute with a reggae tinged “Locked Out of Heaven, Sting joining him with “Walking on the Moon.” Rihanna entered the stage again with Ziggy and Damian Marley on “Could You Be Loved,” a Bob Marley fav that had the audience on their feet and singing along. Frank Ocean’s surprising song choice, “Forrest Gump” was unique on the visual tip; he managed to cover up the bottom half of his body including his injured hand (from Chris Brown brawl) while entrancing us with an optical illusion. LL Cool J performed “Whaddup,” new music from his upcoming music comeback album “Authentic Hip-Hop.” Chuck D. and Travis Barker
