After issuing the late Whitney Houston’s final recording “Celebrate,” a duet with Sparkle co-star Jordin Sparks, RCA has unleashed a second recording from the R&B great. Houston performs the Gospel classic “His Eye is On the Sparrow,” which is taken from a scene in the upcoming remake.
According to insiders, Houston left everyone on set in tears following the scene. The gut-wrenching cover will more than likely create more tears as it forces listener’s to remember how great Houston was.
Sparkle opens in theaters August 17.

Musical prodigy, Sparkle (Jordin Sparks) struggles to become a star while overcoming issues that are tearing her family apart. From an affluent Detroit area and daughter to a single mother (Whitney Houston), she tries to balance a new romance with music manager, Stix (Derek Luke) while dealing with the unexpected challenges her new life will bring as she and her two sisters (Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter) strive to become a dynamic singing group during the Motown-era.
