Nelly Furtado is gearing up to make her comeback this year with her forthcoming fifth studio album ‘The Spirit Indestructible,’ which will be released on June 19th. ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ will be Furtado’s first English-language studio album since her 2006 double-platinum album, ‘Loose.’
“I began writing these songs around the time I released my Spanish album ‘Mi Plan,'” Furtado says. “I was in a great headspace, feeling refreshed and ready to really deliver in English again. This album is all about positivity, youth, good energy, and the relentlessness of the spirit. I want people to live this music the way we did when we wrote it. I want them to jump, dance, scream, laugh, cry, love, and vibe to it, and to turn it up very loud everywhere.”
On the LP, Furtado not only co-wrote each song, but she has worked with an array of collaborators, including Salaam Remi, Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, Bob Rock, Dutch DJ, Jamaican reggae producer Da Genius, and EDM producer Tiesto.
The album will also feature a deluxe version, which will include several bonus tracks, including Furtado’s collaborations with Fraser T. Smith, Passion Pit’s lead singer Mike Angelakos, and a song featuring Kenyan Boys Choir, which Furtado produced herself.
The lead single “Big Hoops (Bigger is Better)” is currently available on iTunes.
