A Victorville, California man is recovering after being shot in the face minutes after a concert headlined by R&B singer Marques Houston. According to Victorville Daily Press, a fight broke out in the parking lot of Social House on Friday night, ending with the unidentified man being shot.
Authorities received 911 calls at around 1:45am, reporting the shooting. When Victorville Police arrived, the shooter had already fled the scene.
It is not clear if the shooter and victim had been inside the club, Social House, during the concert.
This is the second shooting to be reported following a concert, headlined by an R&B artist, over the weekend. One man was killed and five others were wounded outside a concert headlined by Pleasure P in Wichita, Kansas. That shooting, which started with a fight, happened the same night.
Both club owners have spoken out, reacting to the shootings via local press. While the owner of Doc Howard’s Lounge, in Kansas, says his establishment was “an easy target (for blame),” Social House owner Ron Mather is opting to avoid booking similar concerts and events.
“There have been at least two rap acts I’ve had to turn away because I wanted to make sure stuff like this didn’t happen,” Mather said Monday.
