Recently, photos surfaced online of 90s R&B stars Brandy and Monica reuniting in the studio for a follow-up to their Grammy-winning hit collaboration “The Boy Is Mine.” The two teamed up in the studio while out in Miami, alongside hit-maker Rico Love, while fans speculated as to when the song will be released. Thankfully, RCA has revealed some key details about the collaborative effort.
Monica and Brandy are set to release their latest single, “It All Belongs To Me” on February 6th, with the song written and produced by Rico Love. The song is set to appear on Monica’s upcoming album ‘New Life,’ due out on March 6th, as well as on Brandy’s forthcoming RCA/Chameleon debut due out some time in the spring.
This collaboration comes 14 years after the duo released “The Boy Is Mine.”
Producer Rico Love shared his excitement surrounding the record with Singersroom, telling us that “It was amazing just to be in the presence of two amazing vocalist and be able to write and produce a song for them. He adds: “It’s the first song they sang together since ‘The Boy is Mine’ and they only perform ‘The Boy is Mine’ one time together.”
Once “It All Belongs To Me” is release, most fans will more than likely compare it to “The Boy Is Mine,” but for love there is no comparison.
“I definitely don’t want to compare it,” he tells us. “I will let other people do that but I just know that it’s a great song. I got amazing vocals out of both girls and I’m sure people are going to love the song and the content of the record. It’s very fly, very mature, very grown up.”
