Grammy-nominated singer Janelle Monae is gearing up to release not one, but two new albums in 2012, according to Back to Rockville.
Monae recently returned to her hometown of Kansas City for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Crown Center, and confirmed that she’s been working on new music.
“I am happy to be here and see my family, and I am eager to get back to the studio and work on finishing my album,” Monae said. “I stopped touring so I could finish the album. Actually, I plan on releasing two albums next year.”
Though the “Tightrope” singer refused to reveal any specific release dates about the project, Monae confirmed that “84.799 percent of the writing is done.”
She added: “I will release them according to my soul clock; so I reserve the right to change that. But I will try to stick to the scheduled release dates, which I know but can’t say. I will be thinking about Kansas City and all the people here who have supported me as I continue to write songs that empower, encourage and make you dance.”
Aside from releasing new music, Monae also unveiled her plans to tour next year, though news and show dates have yet to be announced. “I’ll be with some really big artists,” she revealed. “We’ll hit the Staples Center three nights in a row in L.A. It’s a really big band.”
Needless to day, Janelle Monae has no plans to slow her creativity down in the least bit. 2011 was clearly her breakthrough year for her album ‘The ArchAndroid.’ After spending much of the year on an international tour, Monae is ready to continue growing. “Everything is about timing. This year was about the beginning of my career and working with established artists. Next year, we’ll step it up a little more,” she said.
