2011 was another whirlwind year for Fantasia Barrino as media outlets continued to spy into her personal life. After a tumultuous 2010 with the plague “homewrecker” covering her brand and a suicide attempt at her side, Fantasia was back in the media this year after getting pregnant by the Antwaun Cook, the married man whose home she was accused of wrecking.
The new pregnancy is allegedly her second with cook after reports surfaced that her 2010 suicide attempt came on the heels of aborting the first child.
Late last year, Fantasia was called to provide evidence in a child’s custody case for Cook, who has three kids with his ex-lover, Paula Cook. During her proceedings, she said that she had intentionally overdosed on drugs after the media found out about her affair with Cook.
CNN reported that the 26-year-old “testified that she knew from the first day of her relationship with Cook that he was married and still living with his wife, according to two sources who were in the courtroom.”
Off to 2011, Fantasia confirmed the new pregnancy directly at a charity event for the opening of the Riverview Apartments in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday, July 31.
“You are the first persons that I share this news with. And I share this with you, because I can relate to you. And for a while I walked around figuring out what will they say and what will they think about me. But now I tell you I don’t live my life for folk,” Fantasia told the crowd in the below video. “This child that I carry. God has given me this child. And I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all.”
The new baby will be Fantasia’s second child; she already has a daughter, Zion Quari Barrino.
