The early stages of President Obama’s re-election campaign for 2012 are underway.
Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson shows continued support for the President, who turns 50 tomorrow, by performing at his birthday fundraiser in Chicago, Illinois tonight (August 3rd). Other artists who will perform at the gala include Jazz legend Herbie Hancock and Chicago rockers OK GO.
Organizers expect a crowd of roughly 1,000 supporters, who each paid between $50 and $35,800 to attend. The money raised will go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint account for Obama’s re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
The president will also address the crowd around 8:15 pm ET.
Hudson has been a longtime supporter of president Obama, in 2008 she sang the national anthem at the Democratic National Convention at the personal request of President Obama.
Happy Birthday Mr. Obama!
Jennifer Hudson has always been passionate about politics. An early supporter of Barack Obama’s campaign for President in 2008, the singer-actress is now an even bigger advocate for his re-election in 2012. She recently spoke out on why she believes that a second term would be beneficial to Americans from all walks of life.
The Oscar and Grammy award winner began her career on American Idol in 2004 before going on to win awards for her role as Effie White in Dreamgirls (2006). Her success did not stop there; since then she’s gone on to become one of Hollywood’s most powerful stars. But despite her fame, Jennifer continues to keep her feet firmly planted in reality and finds time to give back by championing causes such as gay rights and education reform.
Her vocal support of Obama’s administration thus far makes it no surprise that she is standing behind him wholeheartedly this election season. In this article we explore what motivated Jennifer Hudson to be an ardent supporter of the president’s bid for a second term and how her efforts are being felt across America.
Background Of Jennifer Hudson
Jennifer Hudson is an American singer, actress and philanthropist. She rose to fame in 2004 as a contestant on the third season of “American Idol” and went on to win a Grammy Award for her self-titled debut album. In 2008, she became an early supporter of President Obama’s bid for re-election in 2012.
Hudson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where she attended Dunbar Vocational Career Academy High School. After graduating from high school, Hudson pursued music professionally. Her big break came when she competed on the singing competition show “American Idol” in 2004. Although she placed seventh that season, her performance earned her national recognition and launched her into stardom.
In 2008, Hudson announced her support for then Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign by appearing at several events supporting his candidacy including rallies and fundraisers throughout the country. Since then, she has been active in promoting his agenda through public service announcements and appearances with him during his presidency. This made Jennifer one of the earliest supporters of President Obama’s bid for re-election in 2012 – something which would later have major implications for both parties’ campaigns.
Involvement In Obama’s Re-Election Campaign
In the months leading up to Obama’s 2012 campaign for re-election, Jennifer Hudson remained an outspoken advocate of his candidacy. She continued her involvement throughout the election season and even took on a more active role by participating in several fundraisers and appearing at various rallies around the country. In October of that year, she joined first lady Michelle Obama in Charlotte, North Carolina where they both spoke passionately about their support for the president and encouraged people to get out and vote.
During this time, Hudson also used her platform as a public figure to spread awareness about important issues facing our nation like health care reform, education equality and economic development. Throughout these initiatives, it became clear that Hudson was committed to using her influence to help President Obama’s agenda succeed in order to better serve the American people.
Hudson’s dedication didn’t go unnoticed either; upon hearing about her efforts during a visit to Chicago earlier that year, President Obama made special mention of his appreciation for Hudson’s enthusiasm and commitment towards achieving victory in 2012. Her unwavering support helped propel him into another term – something which ultimately played a major part in shaping today’s political landscape.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Jennifer Hudson was a great early supporter for President Obama’s 2012 re-election. She put her support behind him in the form of public appearances and endorsements. Her star power and influence helped rally people to get out and vote for Obama during his campaign.
Her commitment to this cause showed that she truly believed in the message that Obama had presented. Not only did she help spread his message but also gave it credibility with her celebrity status. Her involvement demonstrated how even one person can make an impact on history and elections when they come together in support of something they believe in.
Jennifer Hudson is an inspiring example of how anyone has the potential to make a difference if they are willing to commit their time and energy into something bigger than themselves. As we move forward, let us remember her story as motivation to take action when we feel strongly about something or someone who we want to see succeed.
