As expected, Beyonce Knowles’ new release ‘4,’ landed atop the Billboard 200 albums chart for the second consecutive week, holding off artists like Adele, Lady Gaga and Lloyd. ‘4’ debuted at No. 1 last week after selling 310,000 copies, giving Beyonce her fourth solo No. 1 album.
Elsewhere on the chart, R&B singer Lloyd’s new release makes its chart entry in the top 10 but failed to follow in the steps of his 2008’s ‘Lesson in Love,’ which sold 51,000 and peaked at No. 7.
According to Billboard, a release date following the Fourth of July holiday wasn’t favored for releasing big albums. A very logical sentiment being that most families are spending their income on food and beverages, getaways, etc.
