One of R&B’s top talents may be putting her craft to the side for a while. Multi-Grammy nominated singer Jazmine Sullivan announced on Twitter Sunday (Jan 2.) that she was taking a break from music to figure herself out.
âIâm making an official announcement that I am taking a break from music,â Sullivan tweeted. âIâm trying to figure out who I amâ¦w/out a [mic], paper or pen.â
We are not sure what sparked the sudden change of love for her craft but it seems like Ms. Sullivan is dealing with some professional or personal battles.
“I promised myself when it wasnât fun anymore I wouldnât do it. And here I am,â Sullivan shared with followers. âIâm not saying I wonât ever sing again in my life becuz I donât believe that. But in this moment…[right] nowâ¦I got some things to figure out. I love u all and appreciate u soooooo much. [You] have no idea how much uâve inspired me and fed my ego. But the truth is that I have to believe in me whether you all do or not. And thatâs what Iâm lookin for. That belief in myself. Me. I. I love us. Thanks for being here for me and riding with me on this journey. Let us continue.”
After all was said and done, the tweets were deleted.
Jazmine Sullivan has received high praises from peers, veterans, and music insiders since her break-through debut album âFearless.â In early December 2010, Billboard honored Sullivan as the ‘Rising Star’ for 2010 and to date she has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and various other accolades.
Her latest album, âLove Me Back,â debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart with 55,648 copies sold. The album was again met with high praises but saw little promotional help from her record label J Records.

Side Note: If this is actually true, we hope Ms. Sullivan finds herself very soon because there are still a lot of fans supporting good music.
