Chris Brown and Raz B: Did Fans Accept Their Apologies?

Twitter timelines everywhere erupted Wednesday afternoon as former B2K band member, Raz B began a war of words against R&B singers Eric Benet and Chris Brown.

Raz B’s tweet said, “I’m just sittin here thinking how can n**gas like Eric Benet and Chris Brown disrespect women as intelligent as Halle Berry and Rihanna.”

While Benet never responded to Raz B’s comments, Brown did. His tweets quickly escalated from disrespectful to offensive and shocking as he began to reference Raz B’s molestation accusations against former manager, Chris Stokes. Brown continued to post homophobic statements and doctored photos of the singer for several hours.

Many were shocked at Brown for responding as aggressively as he did. Especially after recently tweeting a picture of his certificate of completion for finishing a 52-week domestic violence course.

However, Raz B is not completely innocent in the matter as well. Aside from baiting Brown with his initial tweet, he continued to reference the demise and public aftermath of Brown’s relationship with Rihanna.

Both the artists issued a statement of apology to TMZ. Raz B said, “I want to publicly apologize for my direct attacks done out of anger. This is now about taking the right approach, so not only my story can be heard, but so someone learns something valuable. Standing up for yourself does not mean yelling or victimizing others and I sincerely apologize for that.”

Brown reported to TMZ that he believes the singer was “bent on getting attention.” His apology was less directed at Raz B and more intended for his fans as he stated, “I have learned over the past few years to not condone or represent acts of violence against anyone. Molestation and victims of such acts are not to be taken lightly; and for my comments I apologize from the bottom of my heart.”

As far as Raz B accepting Brown’s apology, he tells TMZ, “I don’t think Chris was apologizing to me, I believe Chris was apologizing to the people he offended, you can’t talk about abused people around the world,” later adding “Twitter is a good place to have fun.”

When the dust finally settled, the battle lines were clearly drawn. Fans of both artists were very passionate about what transpired. Hopefully their apologies to the fans will ensure that an immature Twitter beef like this doesn’t happen again.

What are your thoughts on this situation?
