The Billboard chart team has assembled this list of the Top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop artists of the last 25 years. The tally is based on actual performance on the weekly Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts from Jan. 5, 1985, issue to the charts dated Nov. 6, 2010 Not surprisingly, R. Kelly won the honor of being #1. R. Kelly has sold more than 34 million records worldwide, released seven No. 1 albums and twelve multi-platinum-selling albums, and has charted eleven No. 1 singles. In an industry dotted with one-hit wonders, the Chicago native has released a total of fifteen albums, including compilations and collaborations, plus nine platinum-certified solo albums. In related news, “When a Woman Loves” has drawn critical acclaim from mainstream media being the “No. 1 Most Added” at Urban AC radio upon its release.
