Willow Smith, the newest Roc Nation signee, is well on her way to becoming a superstar. The 9-year-old daughter of actors Will and Jada Pinkett Smith is blazing her own trail with her unique sense of style and new music video for her debut single âWhip My Hair.â The clip was released on Smithâs website late Monday, October 18, and expresses how one should always be an individual. The video begins in a classroom that is painted all-white with children that look bored to death. Smith walks in wearing an outfit that is every color of the rainbow, ready to shake things up. Her long braids are dipped in bright paint colors and she begins whipping her hair which brings color into the room. Just last month, rap mogul Jay-Z signed the newcomer to Roc Nation. On a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest, he shared that the first time her heard âWhip My Hairâ he didnât know it was being sung by a 9-year-old. âI was like, âMan, thatâs recordâs a smash,ââ he told Seacrest. âAnd then Jay Brown [Roc Nation partner] said, âSheâs 9,â and I was like âWhoa!â And then [he] was like, âSheâs Will and Jadaâs daughter,â and I was like, âWhoa!â and it just went from there.â Seacrest also interviewed Willow and asked her about the meaning behind âWhip My Hair.â âIt means just be an individual. Like you canât be afraid to be yourself, and you canât let anyone tell you that thatâs wrong.â Watch the âWhip My Hairâ video below: Video by Singersroom.com | More on Willow Smith
