Just one non-stop flight or short drive away, South Beach in Miami, Florida is shaping up to be the place to be in February. While the weather has been on the cool side in Florida in recent weeks, it’s likely things will heat up temperature wise thanks to a number of performers and athletes making their way to Miami to take centerstage at Superbowl XLIV.
Like Las Vegas, South Beach is a location that breathes “what happens here, stays here”. Starting February 4th however, you might feel the need to share what you’re doing (if you’re there) with friends and family. In addition to the big game, concerts featuring Def Jam recording stars Rihanna and Justin Bieber are lined up to take place.
Both stars, teaming up with Pepsi, will play the only official Superbowl Concert series on South Beach, which is a two night series. On the second night (February 5), Latin inspired music from Paulina Rubio, Pitbull and Nelly Furtado (“Mi Plan”) will then take over South Beach. But, the concerts are just the beginning as celebs from across the country are expected to attend and host parties in the area. While official lists are still being drafted, the Kardashian’s could make their way to festivities along with Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, who are co-owners of the Miami Dolphins (see additional parties/events below). Jamie Foxx, Ludacris, BB King, and select Gospel recording acts are too confirmed for events taking place February 4 – 7.
Actor Kevin Dillon, star of HBO’s hit series Entourage and television anchor Nancy O’Dell will host Thursday’s official concert with Rihanna (“Rated R”) and Justin Bieber (“My World”), while Telemundo stars Leti Coo and Jessi Losada with actor Karim Mendiburu host Friday’s festivities.
So how do you get tickets to the only official Superbowl Concert Series?
Tickets will be made available on Ticketmaster.com, beginning Monday, January 11th on a first come, first serve basis (a limit of 10 tickets per person is imposed).
What other events are going down Superbowl Weekend?
Award winning Hip Hop artist Ludacris will host a series of special events at his latest venture, The House of Conjure on Ocean Drive. The “How Low” rapper is expected to host a Celebrity Poker Event (Thurs. Feb. 4th), Game Viewing Event (Sunday, Feb. 7), four after hours parties, starting at 3am and a special listening event, previewing his forthcoming album Wednesday, February 3.
Seminole Hard Rock Casino is also taking part in the festivities, hosting ‘Rock The Game’ with Jamie Foxx, B.B.King and Buddy Guy.
Celebrating eleven years of inspiration with top performing artists, the NFL Players All-Star Choir and more, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin, Israel & New Breed and more will take part in the Superbowl Gospel Celebration Friday, February 5 at the James L Knight center. Tickets for this event are currently on sale through Ticketmaster.
