Rihanna unveiled two anticipated titles Tuesday, after weeks of speculation surrounding her return to music. According to label insiders, Rihanna’s forthcoming album has been titled “Rated R”. News of the title followed the highly anticipated debut of the embattled singer’s first song since enduring a beating at the hands of fellow entertainer Chris Brown and a subsequent assault case. Titled “Russian Roulette,” the single debuted on Rihanna’s official website at exactly 11:23 am Tuesday. Penned by singer/songwriter Ne-Yo, “Russian Roulette” features Rihanna singing about staying in the game and knowing that she must “pass this test”. It is however later in the song, which could be deemed eerie at points, that Rihanna seems to be thinking about an abusive relationship and the value of life. “As my life flashes before my eyes I’m wondering, will I ever see another sunrise?,” Rihanna sings. “So many won’t get the chance to say goodbye but it’s too late to pick up the value of my life.” Shortly after those lines are sung, a gun is cocked and fired. A video for “Russian Roulette,” directed by Anthony Mandler, will soon premiere on ABC. What did you think of Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette” ?
