The late Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe says she has not been involved in any form of rumored payoff or relinquishing of parental rights. Contrary to news reports earlier this week, which claimed Rowe had accepted some $4 million in exchange for waiving custody of the King of Pop’s three children, papers disputing the validity of the rumor were drawn Tuesday. In a strong letter issued to the New York Post, Rowe attorney Eric M. George called the paper’s report “reprehensible” and demanded a retraction. “Among the several contenders for overzealous and inaccurate sensationalism, the New York Post has now seized top honors. It would be easier to identify those few background facts that are accurate than to catalog the number of blatant falsehoods in your story,” George wrote. According to George, Rowe has “no agreement” with the Jacksons nor will she “give up her parental rights”. Rowe was married to Jackson for three years, before divorcing in 1999. In related news, TMZ says Rowe’s statement through her attorney is significant and backed up by another Jackson source.
