Taraji P Henson, Zac Efron Pull 2009 MTV Movie Award Nominations

After weeks of voting at MTV.com, Taraji P. Henson and Zac Efron managed to snag nominations for the upcoming 2009 MTV Movie Awards ! Henson, previously nominated for an Oscar, has earned a nod for Best Female Performance for her role in the blockbuster flick ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ where she starred alongside Cate Blanchett, Faune Chambers and Julia Ormond. However, Henson will face a serious line up of leading ladies including Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway who will also vie for the Best Female Performance Award. Teen heartthrob Zac Efron also picked up a nomination. The “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” star will infact, face off with Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious) and Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man) for the Best Male Performance Award. This year’s MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by former Arrested Development star Andy Samberg at Los Angeles’ Gibson Amphitheater. Twilight, Slumdog Millionaire and The Dark Knight also earned a nomination or two, as did Kate Winslet, Bobb’e J. Thompson (Role Models) and Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian). According organizers, you may vote for your favorites via MTV.com starting today, May 4. The 2009 MTV Movie Awards air May 31 at 9pm on MTV.
