Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah are coming to The Wiz. The music veterans were recently added to the upcoming live TV version of the musical.
Blige has been cast as Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West, played by What's Happening!! actress Mabel King in the 1978 movie.
Latifah will portray the titular wizard, which was first played by Richard Pryor in the film.
"To see [Queen Latifah] play the iconic role of the Wiz and make it her own is going to be one of the joys of producing this event," "Wiz" executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron told PEOPLE.
The duo joins confirmed cast member Stephanie Mills, who will play Auntie Em. She was Dorothy in the original 1975 Broadway cast.
Producers of the telecast, which will air on Dec. 3rd via NBC, are hoping to transfer the show to Broadway for the 2016-17 season.
