According to reports, R&B singer Syleena Johnson amicably separates from Jive Records after an eight year stint. The singer, who had three strong albums with Jive, is currently in the studio preparing her new project.
Syleena?s first release in 2001, ?Chapter 1: Love, Pain & Forgiveness? debut at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and garnered rave reviews, while ?Chapter 2: The Voice? and ?Chapter 3: The Flesh? has had just as much critical success.
Her 2004 collaboration with Kanye West earned her a Grammy nod and crossover appeal. To date, Syleena has done collaborations with R. Kelly, Fabolous, DMX, Cuban Linx, Michelle Williams, Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Shawnna, Twista, Common and many others.
Born in 1977, the native of Chicago suburb Harvey, Illinois, is the daughter of Syl Johnson, a noted blues singer who penned the hit, "Take Me To The River," and Brenda Thompson, America's first black female police commissioner. Syleena Johnson took to music early, growing up not only with a musical father, but also listening to influential artists such as Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Tina Turner, The Dells, and Mavis Staples. She would later apply this love of soul as a member of her high school gospel choir.
Syleena Johnson has her own record label now, Aneelys Records!! She is releasing her new album, Chapter 4: Labor Pains due date January 13, 2009!

I just love your cd It is true. It is so romantic, I love how you put soldiers and knight and shinning amour, all the wives and girlfriends of their soldiers should send them a copy of this cd, it would make them feel real good. God knows they need some sweet music.
