Mary J. Blige was upset to learn that this year’s Academy Awards had snubbed her when the nominations were announced earlier yesterday. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul took to her Twitter page to vent her frustrations when she found out that her song “The Living Proof” from the critically acclaimed film ‘The Help’ failed to receive a nod at the 2012 Oscars.
“I’m so thankful for true fans like you all. It saddens me & feels like the Academy is being mean. To only nominate 2 of the 5 slots is…” tweeted the R&B singer as she stopped short of finishing her thoughts. Her disappointment was reflected in fans and peers alike as many wondered why the Best Original Song category only named two contenders instead of the usual five.
After receiving an overwhelming amount of support from fans, Blige simply tweeted, “I’m so thankful for true fans like you all.”
