Tyler Perry is disgusted with negative news reports related to Michael Jackson's shocking death last week.
Perry, directing the Janet Jackson featured 'Why Did I Get Married Too,' a sequel to 'Why Did I Get Married,' spoke with Atlanta's Q100 Monday.
"These are human beings, they’re human beings," Perry told The Bert Show.
"I wouldn’t wish the level of fame he achieved on my worst enemy. I am so disgusted, that, with every great thing that’s being said about him, there’s a million negative things being said. Why can’t it just be about his legacy rather than the tarnished part of what he was acquitted for? It bothers me that this is the focus."
Perry's call follows a weekend mixed with both tributes and extensive news coverage dedicated to Jackson. While the tributes have been watched by millions, the commentary surrounding Jackson's death and legacy has been repeatedly tainted with talk of the King of Pop's legal woes. Even though Jackson was acquitted of the alleged charges, much of the coverage has been tinged with the case and other troubled items instead of focusing on Jackson's musical, philanthropic and humanitarian legacy.
"I hope that people will just send up a prayer for his family. Even though they’re famous these are regular human beings. If you cut them, they bleed. Having to deal with all this negativity is hard."
Funeral and memorial arrangements are being made for the King of Pop.
Jackson died last Thursday, June 25. He was 50.

Continued.....It took a combined effort of Gladys, Chaka & Patti as a group to receive just minimum airtime on Ent. tonight versus one diva Britney! Oprah's Legend's Ball received bare minimum airtime as compared to headlines of Paris Hilton and Lyndsey Lohan! Mario Lopez was People's sexiest man, but he received much less coverage than his predecessors Brad and Hugh! again, mainstream media is not quick at all to praise the achievements of Black and Latino celebrities, but give their own accolades quickly! Why do you all think that so many Black award shows exist and they had to start the Latin grammys? Some of this negative MJ coverage could've been used edited out to give Farrah Fawcett and Ed Macman a little more respect in their passings as well! Rest in Peace, MJ!
What I have not liked about mainstream media is that they give props to folks who don't sing, dance or act! When Anna Nicole died, you would've thought that some King or Queen had past because Entertainment Tonight and E! gave her so much "empathetic coverage" that it was ridiculous! She was a horrible actress; she did not sing or dance and was high and drunk in public all the time and I couldn't understand why their was soooo much praise worthy heavy media coverage! Mainstream media is political and fickle behind the scenes and they are not quick to praise African-American entertainer's acheivements! You would be surprised at how big reputable talents like Will Smith, Beyonce, Janet and Vanessa Williams still have to fight for minimum airtime up against lesser talented, white celebrities like Paris, Lyndsey! African-American's still receive much lesser contracts as compared to their white counterparts! I could go on and on, but this can get off the subject! MJ rest in peace!
on a site the other day there was a article about the guy that said mj molested him and he said that he lied because his dad made him do it because they needed money, and there has been no more mention of it on the news are no place else, michael was the biggest charitie donator ever, hes in the g. book of record for givinh to 39 different charities rip mj.

thank you tyler for stepping up to the plate and i was looking at cnn last night and there was three attorneys for the jackson family and the black attorney stepped it up and let anderson cooper of cnn know that they needs to focus on the positive and not so much negativity on mj, there was a blabk, white female , and a white attorney all representing the jackson family and i thought that that was a nice start to try and debunk sonme of the negative press thats out there , let the king of pop and the icon with the giving heart rest in peace.
In response to this Micheal person's response to Michael Jackson, whom stated "Jamie Foxx statement was racial and that Micheal lived a white life." You are flat out lying to say that you have heard more blacks dogging Michael than whites. If you are black, which I doubt, you aren't in the urban areas where blacks like me are celebrating his musical legacy and not focusing on any past personal issues. Let the first of any of you racist people toss the first stone. I'm sorry but it is TRUE, as a social studies teacher, white America is the last group of people to criticize and berate any person of color on this earth. None of you have the birth right after 1680 to demean any person of color in this country. Michael Jackson wasn't just an ICON, he is THE ICON. So you people's hateful comments don't mean a damn thing when it relates to his legacy. Again, white America, you can't rewrite HISTORY!!! And you certainly can't deny that Michael Jackson is the King of Pop.
White media???..seems like the white people, are not the racist ones anymore. As Jamie Foxx said "Michael, was a black man, and he belongs to us, we shared him with you"..Yeah..move over whites, we have reverse racism here. Let a white person say that, and all hell breaks loose.
To be honest, I have heard more black people dog Michael then white, and if anything, Michael lived a white life..girlfriend, wife's, friends, kids..should I keep going?
Tyler and Usher have been the only ones to step up and criticize the lying, vindictive WHITE media. Now that MJ is with god, I wonder what black superstar they can attempt to destroy now? RIP MJ
He is 100% correct. There is actually way more good than bad that can be said about MIchael Jackson. And people that do say good things get cut off mid sentence and replaced during the commercial breaks. It is sickening! More celebs should be speaking out like this. Not just offering prayers but voicing their disgust of the lack of tact.
i agree tyler perry whatever was done its over with and let God have the last say
