The wait is over! Whitney Houston has picked September for her highly anticipated return to the spotlight. News of the former “I Will Always Love You” singer’s expected release period follows years of speculation over Houston’s anticipated comeback. An effort that has been linked to everyone from Diane Warren to R. Kelly. According to a release from Arista Thursday, Houston’s album, her first in seven years (since 2002s “Just Whitney), has officially been green-lit for September 1. Earlier this year, producer/songwriter’s Diane Warren and David Foster weighed in on Houston’s new project stating: “Whitney is a girl that everybody would like to see come back and, in this case, it really would be a comeback. A lot of people say, ‘Come back? I never left.’ But Whitney did leave and she hasn’t recorded in about 10 years, I believe. So this truly would be a comeback,” said Foster. Since her 1985 self-titled debut, Whitney Houston has built an illustrious career that has generated over 170 million combined worldwide sales of albums, singles and videos. Cited by the Guinness Book of World Records as musicâs âmost awarded female artist of all time,â with an unsurpassed tally of 411 awards, inclusive of 6 Grammy Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, 23 American Music Awards and 16 Billboard Music Awardsâ¦Houston remains a force in music today. In addition to the release date announcement, a new promotional photograph of Houston was released Thursday. Houston’s album will be released September 1 via Arista, with a single rumored to be on tap for this summer.
