Congrats are in order for Solange.
Last night (May 15), the “Cranes In The Sky” singer was in NYC for the Webby Awards where she won for Artist of the Year; the award denotes online excellence and the singer was honored for her online platform Saint Heron.
In a statement released back in April, the Webby Awards wrote that Solange is “a true artist of the online generation. Saint Heron is an unparalleled celebration of cultural diversity and the evolution of music; and it’s through this platform that Solange has provided a completely new and unique space for collaboration between artists, as well as a large audience for creative expressions by artists of color,” the statement read.
Like the other winners, Solange was permitted only five words in her acceptance speech, to which she sang Luniz’s 1995 hit “I got five on it.”
