Philly-native Devon is about to fly “So High.”
In his debut video, he meets a young woman whom he’s interested in and sings about how she makes him feel. The record samples Backstreet’s “Gotta Get You Home” (and Eugene Wild’s 1984 hit “Gotta Get You Home With Me Tonight”). Devon possesses a sweet, smooth tenor reminiscent of Tevin Campbell.
“So High” from Devon’s upcoming EP Tug Of War, which is based on relationships. A release states that the EP is about Devon thinking he likes one girl, but meets someone else and falls in love with another. Each single has a video that is attached to it.
Representing his Philly roots, Devon is committed to that rich R&B sound. In 2013, Devon was introduced to his favorite producer, Grammy Award winner Bryan-Michael Cox, who took an interest in the singer and who too was captivated by his strong vocal ability. His first performance was in NYC for R&B Spotlight at SOBs during the Dru Hill show. He was called up during the open mic section. After a stellar performance, he was asked back in March where he performed again at SOB’s but this time opening for R&B legend Faith Evans.
He is involved in a program called The Philadelphia Youth Music Program, located in South Philadelphia. The program helps young children pursue their dreams in music and audio engineering.
