Detroit’s Newest Girl Trio, DMK, Uses An Xscape Classic On New Single, ‘Run To You’

Detroit R&B trio DMK teams up with DJ Greg Street to remix classic R&B girl group Xscape’s 1995 hit “Who Can I Run To” (originally by The Jones Girls, 1979) on their new song “Run To You.” DMK has been on record stating the 90’s group are a huge musical influence.

“I would say that we’re all 90s babies, so it’s what we group up on,” member Damoli told us in an interview a few months ago. “We were never like, “let’s be a 90s group,” but it was like, let’s do music that we like and what we feel, so us being 90s babies probably helped out, though.” Member Kourtney added, “And the fact that 90s music was like, the real R&B era, and we definitely wanted to bring that real R&B sound back.”

The girls have already been making waves online with their first single and video Love The Way You Love.” Their second offering “On My Way Over”  and video for another single titled “Major” was a precursor to their debut, self-titled EP. On top of all that, the group scored an appearance on FOX’s hit show Empire.
