Love is a complicated thing.
Chicago-native Daví Akei focuses on that hard fact on his new single “Asylum,” a smooth jazzy number that faces complex nature of romantic relationships. Akei teamed up Slick on production for this single while he penned the hit.
“To those who listen and relate to its message know that it’s fine to want love back and to also let it go, you have the power to decide”, says Akei. “This smooth, and emotional single draws you in from the time you press play. I loved the beat when I heard it and the song wrote itself. Having a love, lose it, and being in that place where you’re trying to figure out where it went wrong was my mental focus for the instantiates of love. I wanted to put as much heart in it as I felt living it,” Akei continued.
Daví has had the privilege to share stages with some of the most world-renowned soul artists of Chicago and in other performance arenas such as classical and theater fields. Performing at the Chicago Theater, U.S.Cellular Field, and the House of Blues as premier locations in Chicago. Now he is taking on the Big Apple, New York City where he’s hosted an open mic, performed for benefit assemblies, artist showcases, and concerts.
