Detroit girl group DMK serves us up a dose of refreshingly-retro-yet-current R&B with the video of their debut single “Love The Way You Love,” a catchy and fun single to start your spring.
Comprised of Damoli (22), Melanee (22), and Kourtney (21), the group parties it up in the video where they meet some cute guys and dance the night away.
The ladies have been honing their soulful harmonies and powerful vocals together for over 12 years now. As Detroit natives, their Motown roots run deep, and not just because of their affiliation with the city. Kourtney’s grandfather is Levi Stubbs of the legendary Motown group The Four Tops. Reminiscent of the 90’s vocal group En Vogue, they’ve found a musical balance of traditional and current R&B that merges perfectly with updated new jack swing rhythms.
When asked about goals for the group’s music, member Melanee simply says, “It’s time for girl groups to make a comeback in R&B music. We want to be that group.”
