Hailing from Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, Grammy Award-winning group Sounds of Blackness enlists the talents of students from St. Paul’s High School for Recording Arts (HSRA) for the empowering song and video “Royalty” for “a national movement for positive images of African American youth.”
The song/video reminds black youth that today’s portrayal of African-Americans don’t breflect their origins. “You’re royalty, we got a message from above, you ain’t no thug, you’re royalty,” Sounds Of Blackness sing on the chorus while HSRA students take the verses.
Great message!
The concept of “Royalty” is the brainchild of composer/producer Gary Hines, and was recorded, engineered and performed by students of the HSRA. A portion of the net proceeds from the sales of ‘Royalty’ will be donated to the High School for Recording Arts.
