San Francisco-born, New York-based singer/songwriter Stella may have a famous musician for a father (Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Carlos Santana), but she’s making her own lane.
After dropping her Frankie P-produced single “Fumes,” she releases “New Toy,” a song where she commands respect. “New Toy” highlights the idea of people acquiring a new desirable object upon a glimpse and the of something new, essentially highlighting the lack of appreciation we have for each other as people with feelings, and instead, treating each other like playthings.
The clip symbolically features a little boy playing with his action figures, and the wear and tear it imposes.
“I’m not your new toy for you to destroy,” she resounds on the chorus.
“New Toy” is the latest from her upcoming LP Selfish set to release later in 2016.
