Soulside Productions/TopNotch Music artist Maurice Smith presents his new single “Can’t Fight The Feeling.” If you like the sounds of vintage soul, Motown, and funk, then this one is for you!
As you’ll hear, Smith just can’t fight the feeling of his Mississippi roots which seep through his pores. His soft voice holds its own over the funky horns, much like a classic Curtis Mayfield joint.
Smith is a producer, songwriter, and singer with roots buried in the state known as the birthplace of Gospel and the Blues. He considers himself an old soul, and has been influenced by soul music icons Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, and Al Green. Maurice received early musical training under the highly acclaimed and sought after choral director Mr. James Hawkins, furthering the depth of his natural talent and gift as a vocalist. It wasn’t until after graduating from college and moving to Los Angeles, that Maurice decided to pursue a professional music career. Since beginning his career, Maurice has worked with some of the music industry’s finest including Sy Smith, The Mary Jane Girls, jazz artist Jessy J, Tony Toni Tone, Seal, LeAnn Rimes, and the Queen B herself, Beyonce, to name a few.
His EP Delta Soul will be coming out May 2016. Download “Can’t Fight The Feeling” on iTunes here.
