KeKe Palmer is certainly doing her thing! Before launching her music career, starring in Fox’s “Scream Queens”, and the upcoming production of “Grease: Live!” (Jan. 31 at 7/6c on Fox), she starred in Malik Vitthal’s independent drama, Imperial Dreams, which was originally slated to release in 2014. Now, a trailer for the film has surfaced online.
The movie co-stars John Boyega, who was catapulted into the stratosphere (literally!) for his role as Finn in the latest installment of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.
Imperial Dreams is inspired by the true life story of Bobby “Yay Yay” Jones, a former gang member and convict, who turned his life around and became a writer. Boyega plays the main role of Bambi and Palmer plays his girlfriend Samaara, who’s behind bars.
The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014 where it won the Best of NEXT Audience Award. Along with Keke and Boyega, the film stars singer/actor Rotimi Akinosho, and Anika Noni Rose star in the movie.
No word on if the film will get a release to date for the public, but with Boyega’s star on the rise after his breakout role in “Star Wars,” there’s a good chance it will!
