Last week, it was announced that Michael Jackson’s 1979 LP Off The Wall would be re-released along with Spike Lee’s documentary “Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to ‘Off the Wall”. Now peep a preview of the doc!
Showtime released a 1 minute, 34 second clip of the forthcoming doc, which focuses on The Roots’ Questlove, The Weeknd, and David Byrne of the Talking Heads talking about MJ’s single “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough.”
The Weeknd explains that song is what made him perfect his signature falsetto. “‘Off the Wall’ was definitely the one that made me feel I could sing,” said The Weeknd. “I found my falsetto because of ‘Off The Wall.’”
Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, and air on Showtime on February 5. Physical copies of MJ’s classic LP will get the re-issue treatment on February 26, the same day director Spike Lee’s documentary will be available for DVD purchase, bundled together as a set.
