Midwestern newcomer Sabatahj' odes the old school sound with his new single “Old Skoo.”
Using smooth 90s RnB with 80s funk grooves (per the Roger Troutman-inspired talk-box) and sensual southern finesse, the song is a slow ride, retro-futuristic tale about a man trying to convince his lady friend into taking a joyride.
Sabatahj (b. Tahj Mullins) is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, rapper, singer, and songwriter, who’s sound could be categorized as a love child between '70s funk/soul and '90s R&B/hip hop. His influences include UGK, Outkast, Scarface, Nas, and DMX along with multitudes of funk and soul essentials such as Sade, George Clinton, and The Isley Brothers. The only male R&B artist on the 2G4TV label, Sabatahj assumes the alter ego “Mr. Nasty Time.”
"Old Skoo" follows the success of Sabatahj's 2013 Guilty Pleasures mixtape.
