R&B crooner Tank is the newest artist to start his own label.
The singer, who’s been in the game for almost 20 years, has announced he’s starting a label called “R&B Money,” an imprint on the label to which he’s signed, Atlantic Records. (And to think, just a year ago, Tank was talking about giving up on music all together!)
The singer made the announcement on his Instagram account on Friday (December 4).
He wrote:
“You work your whole life so that you can have something to call your own! I'm beyond proud of this moment! The hard work it took to get here and the hard work it's going to take to stay here i'm built for! It's been 18 years in this business and I'm still doing NEW DEALS! That's nothing but God! I take none of this for granted and I take none of you for granted! Thank you @atlanticrecords for seeing the vision! Thank you to the fans for ALWAYS showing up and showing out! This what I have right now was built with #RnBMoney!! The New Label! The New Movement! #SLP2 #JAN22”
The singer already has a few acts under his tutelage; Youtube sensations /Texas trio 12:Til and femcee Siya.
Along with his new venture, he’s also working on the release of his upcoming album Sex, Love & Pain II (SLP2) featuring the the Wale-assisted single “They Don’t Know.”
This is great news for the R&B genre. We know the talented Tank will sign some great artists, which should boost R&B’s struggling image.
That's a good look, Tank!
