Janelle Monae’s career stock continues to rise! Not only has she launched her own Wondaland Records label, she’s also launching an acting career.
VIBE reveals the “Electric Lady” singer has been cast in the upcoming movie, Moonlight, a film version of Tarell McCraney’s play, In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue. The premise of the play/film focuses on a young Miami man trying to make it during the "war on drugs" era.
However, no word yet on what role Monae will play. Moonlight is financed by A24, Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment company, the company behind 12 Years A Slave, and scheduled to hit theaters in Fall 2016.
Congrats Ms. Monae!
