Last year, it was rumored Aretha Franklin was eyeing Jennifer Hudson (among others) to play the Queen of Soul in an upcoming biopic about her life on the Lifetime network. Well it looks like J-Hud may be one step closer to sealing the deal!
According to The Wrap, the production will play out on the big screen (maybe no longer on Lifetime because of the stigma after the Aaliyah film?), and Hudson is reportedly in talks with Straight Outta Compton producer Scott Bernstein (who is behind the prodcution) to portray the soulful vocal legend.
The film will reportedly focus on Franklin's rise to fame during the 1960s and 1970s and her first marriage to Ted White, who was said to be abusive.
Hudson recently wrapped up her part in the upcoming Spike Lee-directed film, Chiraq.
Do you think J-Hud will make a good Aretha Franklin? I think so!
